Tiftarea Invitational Varsity Boys

Brookwood's Varsity Boys team was a long shot to place at the Tiftarea Invitational. Why? Because in addition to 7 other local teams, Brookwood faced both the 2009 Class AA Champions in Tiftarea and Class AAA Champions in Mount de Sales. As expected, the top 10 places were littered with Tiftarea and Mount de Sales runners. In fact, only one runner from a school other than Tiftarea or Mount de Sales finished inside the top 10. Stephen Robbins from Brookwood finished 8th. Fortunately for Brookwood, we will not be facing either of the top two teams at state as both are now in AAA and Brookwood is in AA.

On another note, one of the best finishes of the day was that of Alex Carico. With 100 meters left in the race Alex was running neck and neck with a runner from Mount de Sales. As the two neared the finish line Alex was able to reach down for a little extra and outkick his opponent by less than a second. Great finish! I captured some of it on the camera.
